<unknown> namespace

Postby Pascal » Tue Dec 08, 2015 10:18 pm

In the overview page, I am displaying all types by hierarchy. I have <unknown> taking over 1/3 of my memory and is #1 in terms of live instances. Obviously I would like to determine what is creating those instances and why it is taking so much memory. I am using a .Net 4.5 IIS memory dump that was provided to me for analysis.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

.NET Memory Profiler should be able to identify the type for all instances in a memory dump. But, if the memory dump was created at a bad time, e.g. when moving instances in memory, there can be problems with the import.

Is this the memory dump file that you have also sent to us? As mentioned in our reply, we did find an issue where the profiler failed to detect the types of many instances in the memory dump. This issue has been corrected in version 5.0.126. Did you use this version when importing the memory dump?
