Start unmanaged C++ application and profiler hangs?

Post by edavis75 » Tue Nov 27, 2007 6:06 pm

The profiler hangs when starting an unmanaged C++ application.

I start the application with 3.0 profiler and the application starts and runs, but he profile has the "waiting for process to start" box up and never does anything else.

The "Waiting for profiled process to start" message is a bit misleading. It actually waits for the .NET runtime to be loaded into the process. This normally happens during the startup of a .NET application, but for a mixed mode application (unmanaged and .NET) it will not be loaded until a .NET component is used.

Do you still see the "Waiting..." message after your application has started using the .NET runtime?
