Clearing snapshots?

Post by Yuval » Tue Mar 15, 2005 11:29 am

Is there a way to clear all current snapshots?
They seem to take a lot of memory, and if I want to reset the snapshots I have to exit the profiler and restart it and the application.

There's no way of clearing the snapshots used by the profiler, except by starting a new profiling session or opening a previous session. However, the profiler only keeps one full snapshot in memory, plus the necessary information from the comparison snapshot. If snapshots are automatically saved, they're only using temporary hard disk space.

The only way to minimize the memory used by a snapshot is to avoid collecting instance data. You can use the Instance Data Collection form to control how instance data is collected.

Thanks I'll try it.

I still think it is a useful Use-Case.

.NET Memory Profiler seems to be using a lot of memory. I have 1GB RAM but it is brought down to 50MB very quickly.
