Profiling of COM+ Server Applications

Post by Vadim » Wed May 25, 2005 2:21 pm

Hi,

First of all, thanks for the really nice tool.

Here is my question:
Is there any way to profile the COM+ components (.NET) activated as a server?

In my case I'm trying to find the memory leaks/inefficiency with the VB .NET component, registered in COM+ as a Server Application, which is called from the ASPX (VB .NET) application.

In this scenario profiler does not monitor the COM+ process (which is a separate process dllhost.exe).

It's possible to switch the registration from Server to Library Application, but I'm not sure the memory management will be the same in this case.

Hi,

We don't have much experience in working with COM+ components, and we have not tried to profile a COM+ component using our profiler. So I'm afraid that we don't have a solution for you at the moment.

But we will look into this and we will add the possibility to profile COM+ components in a future release.

If anybody else has successfully profiled a COM+ component, please reply to this message.
Best regards,
