Is there a time limit for a profiling session?

Post by guenni2 » Mon Dec 04, 2006 3:08 pm

Hello all,

I'm using the trial version for now.

I wonder if there is a time limit for a profiling session, ie. I need to profile the performance of windows service for about 12 hours.

No, there is no time limit on a profiler session. If you just run the profiled application, there memory usage should normally stabilize and you should be able to run it for a long time.

If heap utilization tracking is enabled, then each collected snapshot will increase the memory usage of both the profiled process and the profiler, even if the snapshot is not saved. I doubt that this will cause any problems, but it might be something to consider if you collect many snapshots.
