aspnet_wp memory so much higher than memory in .net profiler

Hi all,

Just getting to grips with some bad memory usage in our application, but i was wondering if someone might be able to shed some light on this:

The memory useage reported by task manager, seems to have no relation to the .net memory profiler memory usage stats.
as shown <a href="http://www.bgeek.net/photos/main.php?g2 ... 2">here</a>

The excess memory usage you see in ASP.NET is clearly not caused by managed instances. The memory must be used by unmanaged memory allocations and resources. By using the native memory view you can get some information on how this memory is used. However, until we release the next version of the profiler (which includes an unmanaged resources tracker), you will not get very much details about the native memory.

The only thing I can recommend at the moment, is that you make sure that all instances are properly disposed, and that you try to release all COM interfaces that you use by calling Marshal.ReleaseReleaseComObject.

We will soon release a preview version of the profiler that contains the unmanaged resources tracker. It is scheduled to be released in the end of February.
